Here is an overview of how my passion for Procurement has evolved over time. A passion which culminated in the creation of Procurement Cube.
My Procurement journey started in Denmark…
Business oriented engineering studies (M.Eng.) first exposed me to ways of improving efficiencies in organisations.
…continued in Austria and Zambia..
This insight was leveraged to improve project efficiencies for a Vienna-based United Nations organisation. And I discovered first-hand the impact good procurement has on project and business outcomes. The experience taught me how to get things done in a complex multi-cultural environment with conflicting agendas.
…then took me across the Atlantic to Canada…
A few years later I learned to quickly analyse complex business environments and implement effective strategic solutions during MBA studies at Canada’s leading business school. I was particularly fascinated by the wide-reaching business impact good procurement and supply chain management proved to have.
…before l made the United Kingdom my home.
My first private sector experience was as a Senior Supplier Account Manager in a highly specialised team that procured the “raw material” powering Thomson Reuters electronic investment products – data! One of the worlds most valuable commodities.
There I learned how to negotiate with global monopolistic suppliers and lead cross functional projects, adding business value far beyond cost reduction.
At pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca I got excellent training and a solid grounding in Category Management and Strategic Sourcing. As a Global Category Leader, I developed a brand-new category and led global initiatives touching a variety of indirect categories. This included industry leading IT Services BPO and Marketing Materials projects.
During my years at AZ I experienced how Category Management and Strategic Sourcing adds tremendous business value, when implemented correctly.
As a Global Director of Sales for an information industry company I had the opportunity to leverage insights gained from the procurement side in the sales cycle. At the same time I gained insights into how sales organisations think and plan for negotiations.
I realised how powerful this combination of sales insights and deep procurement expertise is to buying organisations.
So, I launched Procurement Cube to help your organisation get the most value from your external spend.
